The
North Okanagan Region is located in the British Columbia Interior
bordering the Canadian Rockies to the east and the Shuswap Lakes
Region to the north. The towns and cities of the North Okanagan
region are set in a valley landscape stretching from the top of
the Okanagan Valley known for its dry desert landscapes, to the
border of the Shuswap Lakes region at Mara Lake. The region is
well-known for its farming and ranching history, and small town
charm. A series of lakes and rivers dominate the region. Okanagan
Lake starts north-west of Vernon and stretches to Penticton in
the South Okanagan. The city of Vernon is situated on Kalamalka
Lake, often referred to as one of the most beautiful lakes in
the world. Mabel Lake east of Enderby is a popular desitination
for recreational enthusiasts. Throughout the North Okanagan are
many opportunities to stay at guest ranches, fishing resorts Bed
and Breakfasts, local inns and hotels. Recreational enthusiasts
will enjoy the endless opportunity to fish in the local fishing
lakes, camp at Provincial Forestry Recreation Campsites and Provincial
Parks, and hike the endless recreational trails. During the winter
months, enjoy cross-country skiing and snowmobiling on the backcountry
trails.
