During the early days of european settlement along the Shuswap Lakes, the settlements along the South Shuswap served as critical loading points for goods and people being trasported to the North Shuswap, and throughout the Shuswap trasportation system.

Blind Bay was once known as Trapper's Landing, and served as a critical shipping point for the Shuswap Lakes. Notch Hill, only 5km from Trapper's Landing, was the transfer point to the railway. Furs, lumber and other trade goods as well as people were transported by ship at Trapper's Landing.

Today Blind Bay is a growing community easily accessible off the Trans-Canada Highway. The natural scenery which brought settlers to the region in the late 1800s still draws people to the area. Marinas now sit where Trapper's Landing was once located, and Blind Bay along with the other communities of the South and North Shuswap area recreation paradise for locals and tourists alike.
