Located
in the Eagle Valley, 20km east of Sicamous on the Trans-Canada
Highway. Malakwa is located along the Eagle River, its name is
the Chinook word for 'mosquito'. Malakwa is just one of the many
settlements that sprang up along the CPR railway in the late 1800s.
The circa 1910 suspension bridge is worth a visit, and the Eagle
Valley Provincial Park located just 5km east of Malakwa along
the river has many walking trails.
